Hidden Canyon is one of Zion National Park’s unique trails that challenges the average hiker with steep ascents and narrow chain-aided footpaths. MY FAVORITE TRAIL in Zion! Long drop offs, not for anyone fearful of heights. Go early if you want to beat the crowd. The final canyon isn't so exciting but the journey is cool. There are chains bolted into the rock face for grip, but the open side of the narrow trail has drops of 1,000+ feet to the floor of the valley. Lots of neat parts including some stomach turning sections that’s surpass Angels Landing (gripping the side of canyon walls and looking down to a loooong drop, hanging onto chains for your dear life). This trail is half the distance and half the vertical gain of Angels Landing, though it doesn’t offer the spectacular down-canyon views. Continue ahead for Secret Canyon. This trail was much less crowded than the one up Angel's Landing but there were still a lot of people doing it. Some guy coming the other direction slipped as he got to me and almost sent me over the edge. I have no idea why it’s not done more but it is so cool.
